West Los Angeles Police Activities League.
West LA PAL was founded in 2005 to provide quality academic, althetic and artistic activities for West Los Angeles Youth. West LA PAL is a operated by community volunteers and supported entirely by community donations.
LAPD
West LA PAL builds a bond between cops and kids. Some people think of police officers as the "them" in "us and them." At West LA PAL, we provide an opportunity for our students to study alongside and become friends with police officers assigned to the West LA PAL program by the LAPD.
By getting to know police officers as people, West LA PAL students learn that there is no "us and them" -- there is only "us."
Diversity
Everyone at West LA PAL has something to learn, and something to teach. Our students and volunteers come from a rich variety of cultures, ethnicities and nationalities. Our martial arts instructors teach arts from Japan, China, Brazil, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia. When we learn about each other, we learn more about ourselves. The more we respect each other, the more we respect ourselves.
